

1. Open new image, size 500x500 (plenty of room to work)
2. Create vector layer.
3. Set color palette to #facaca, pink.
4. Choose the pre set tool and select the cone shape.. Go to image, and flip image.

5. Use node edit tool and right click... choose node type, symetric to make the top of the triangle concave - as in image.
6. Choose the magic wand and select the triangle, so it has the "marching ants" around the whole figure. Go to selections and invert. Connvert to raster layer.
7. Now use the flood fill tool, and fill the "umbrella."
8. On the color palette, set the foreground color to #9d6363, mauve.
9. Choose the paint brush, set at
10.Create new layer.
11.Now paint on a scallop. (repeating "u" shape) Refer to image.

12. Change the size of your paint brush to 7, and paint straight lines from the dip in the scallops to the point at the bottom. (don't worry if you can't get them straight. Neither can I.

13. Using the same color, set the opacity for the paint brush to 50% brush size 12 and paint in the pink part at the top of the scallop on the umbrella. Change the brush size to 9 and paint a line over the top of the vertical lines and one on each side creating a shadow effect. Deselect.

14. Create new layer, and set the foreground color to dark brown.
15. Using the paint brush, set opacity to 100% and size to 4, draw a line at the end of the umbrella for the point.
16. New layer. Use the paint brush size 20, and at the end of the umbrella but above the point, click once making a round circle shape. Refer to image.

17. New layer. Use the text tool, and select Arial, and the capitol letter J. Size 72. Foreground color and background color to set to #9d6363.

18. Flip the image. Now use the node edit. Right click, and choose the option "convert text to curves", single shape. and size it to fit the umbrella.Push up on the curve underneath what is now the umbrella handle.
Now move the handle layer underneath the umbrella layer.Convert to raster layer. Go to effects, 3d, inner bevel and apply pillow shape bevel.

19. Choose the retouch tool, set at
20. Now activate the umbrella layer and select with the magic wand. Using the retouch tool, lightly smudge the dark lines in the umbrella, to your liking. Not the scallop though!
21. Use the eraser and carve the top part of the umbrella similar to the image below.

22. Using the freehand selection tool, outline the first panel on the left. When it is selected flood fill it with a pattern. (you can right click and use this plaid pattern. Then repeat this with the third panel on the umbrella.

23. Merge layers.

24. Copy and paste as new layer.

25. Go to colors, adjust...hue/saturation/lightness. and set:
26.Select okay. Apply this to only one of the umbrellas.

27.Copy and paste umbrella once more......go to colors, and adjusthue saturation and lightness once more to....
28.Select okay. Apply to this umbrella.
29. Use the deformation tool to move these umbrellas around to a position you like and make them various sizes.Smallest in the front.
30. Make sure you are satisfied with their position and then merge visible layers.
31. Resize the umbrella layer to 400x400.
32. Now create new image, size 600x600.
33. Flood fill with white.
34. Copy and paste the umbrellas as new layer onto the new image.
35. Go to effects and add a drop shadow.
36. New layer. Place this layer on top. If you choose to use the plaid pattern, be sure to resize it to the same size as your image, then copy and paste it as a new layer.
37. Use the selection tool, feather set at 26, ellipse. Draw out an oblong in the center of the canvas. Then hit delete. Go to the layers palette,and reduce the opacity to 50%
38. Use your mover to center the umbrellas if necessary. Other than that, you're finished!
39.Embelish it with a nice frame or matting.......maybe add a small flower! Better yet, add your name!
