Hot Air Balloon Tutorial - page 6

Step 12: People

Create a new raster layer below the basket and name it people. Load the people.sel selection and flood fill it with the HotAirBalloon gradient, using these settings:

Sunburst Gradient
Horizontal = 50
Vertical = 0
Repeats = 0
Invert = checked

In PSP 7, apply the same outer bevel effect used in step 10 on page 5, but change the color to #404040. Deselect.

In PSP 8, apply the same inner bevel effect used in step 10 on page 5, but change the color to #9A8080. Deselect.

You might want to paint details on the people, apply different textures, dress them up, or.... (I'd suggest painting and/or dressing them on a separate layer.)

Fig. 21: People

Congratulations! You've just made a beautiful hot air balloon that you can tube or use immediately in an image.

But wait.... Here are some more ideas for effects and images:

Mass ascension

1 No effects were applied. With the right gradient, you can achieve a soft, watercolor look.
2 PSP's Outer Bevel effect was applied, with just a light touch of Eye Candy 3's Glass effect.
3 Two different gradients were used in alternating segments. Eye Candy 3's Outer Bevel effect was applied.
4 A pattern and a gradient were used in alternating segments. Eye Candy 3's Outer Bevel effect was applied.
5 One gradient was used - inverted and not inverted - in alternating segments. Eye Candy 3's Glass effect was applied more than once to each segment.
6 Each segment was filled with the same pattern. No effects were applied. The envelope was stretched with PSP's Deformation tool.
7 An image was manipulated to fit into the overall envelope shape on its own layer. As each selection was loaded, Eye Candy 3's Outer Bevel effect was applied. The envelope was then stretched with the Deformation tool.
8 & 9 After filling the selections with gradients and applying Outer Bevel effects, an image was overlaid on the balloons. Different layer blend modes produced these results.
